Republican Bill To Raise SD Sales Tax Rejected-  A Republican state senator said that South Dakota needed to raise its taxes for one year, which would help out education.  This would cut the propused $47 million cut to education.  The Senate Education Commitee regected the bill.  They didn't want this temporary raise to become perminant next year.

The legislature is soon going to debate over a bill to make a second season for fireworks.  The bill would make it legal to shoot fireworks on the 4th of July and from December 26 through January 2.  Last year the bill was voted on and was vetoed by the governor.
